Clear location and service details help people check whether a business meets their needs.

Start with the facts customers need

Make a short reference sheet for your business name, website, contact number, locations, opening hours and main services. Ask the person responsible for each detail to confirm it. An old brochure is not enough evidence that a service is still available.

For example, a hypothetical repair shop in Ipoh might accept walk-ins on weekdays but require Saturday appointments. Record that distinction clearly instead of describing every day as normal opening hours.

This sheet is a working reference for your team. Customers still need the relevant details on the pages where they make decisions.

Resolve disagreements on your own website

Compare the contact page, footer, service pages and location pages. Check downloadable price lists and older announcements too. If a branch has moved, a correct contact page will not help everyone who lands on an outdated branch page.

  • Use the same current phone number where the same team answers enquiries.
  • Explain which branch a location or opening time belongs to.
  • Remove offers that have ended, or label them clearly as past offers.
  • Describe service limits, such as delivery areas or appointment requirements.

Consistency does not mean repeating identical paragraphs. Different pages can answer different questions while agreeing on the underlying facts.

Review profiles and listings you can manage

Check your Business Profile, social profiles and relevant directory listings against the confirmed details. Record where a correction is needed and whether you have access to make it. For a listing managed by someone else, use its correction process and keep track of the request.

Google’s AI search guidance recommends keeping Business Profile information up to date and ensuring structured data matches the visible page. It does not require a special AI schema or new AI text file.

Use the holiday-hours checklist before a temporary schedule change. Businesses with several branches can also review their individual location pages.

Check the source behind an incorrect answer

If an AI answer gives the wrong address or service, save the question, date, answer and any cited links. Open those links to see whether the mistake exists in the source or whether the answer misrepresents it.

Correct material you control. If a third-party source is wrong, request a correction with a clear explanation. If the source is accurate but the answer is not, use the platform’s feedback option where available.

Follow the citation-checking guide before assuming which page caused the mistake. Updating a source does not guarantee that every generated answer will change immediately.

Give updates an owner and a trigger

Assign someone to review affected pages whenever the business changes a phone number, address, service or schedule. Keep a simple list of the pages and profiles updated, the date checked and any correction still waiting for a response.

After a change, ask a colleague to find the information as a customer would. Can they identify the right branch, check availability and contact the right team without reconciling conflicting details?

Accurate information is useful even when no AI system cites it. Treat fewer customer misunderstandings as a worthwhile result, and assess AI mentions separately using a clearly defined reporting method.
